Camporee & High Adventure – March 2025

Camporee & High Adventure

Troop 410 Campout Report – Camporee at Lost Pines (March 2025)

In March, Troop 410 headed out to Lost Pines Scout Camp in Bastrop for this year’s Camporee! This is always a fun campout because we get to meet a bunch of Scouts from other Troops and take part in all kinds of games and activities.

Our Troop helped run a soccer game, which was one of the activities at the event. It was cool to see other Scouts join in and have a good time. We also got a chance to practice rifle shooting at the range, which is always a favorite.

The most memorable part of the weekend was the big campfire on Saturday night. Each Troop did a skit, and it was a blast seeing all the funny and creative ideas people came up with. It’s always great to hang out with so many other Scouts, make new friends, and just have fun together.

Everyone had a great time and helped make the weekend a success.

Troop Meetings – March Highlights

March was a busy month for meetings and was abbreviated due to Spring Break!

Our first meeting was all about getting ready for Camporee. We had Scouts give presentations about their Troop leadership roles—Oscar talked about being the OA Rep, Marshall explained what a Webmaster does, and Asher, Henry, and Ricky told us about being Den Chiefs. We also got a Lashings demonstration from Ben and Ollie, which was really helpful.

At the second meeting, we practiced our Camporee skits and the soccer game we were running. We also worked on Patrol goals, and Josh and Jack gave us some great tips on backpacking—like what to pack, what to leave behind, and how to keep your bag light. Werner even gave a presentation on the Bugler role. Our last meeting of the month got us ready for April’s Bushcraft campout. We reviewed what gear we’ll need and practiced our lashings by doing a fun lashings relay race—everyone really enjoyed it. Ben and Finn also gave a talk about Bushcraft gear so we’ll be extra prepared.

Spring Break Adventure

During Spring Break, the Philmont crew did a big shakedown hike in the Guadalupe Mountains out near Ft. Davis in West Texas. They backpacked for three days, spent two nights on the trail, and hiked almost 30 miles! Along the way, they practiced cooking, cleaning, hanging bear bags, and more—just like they’ll do at Philmont. They even got to summit the third highest peak in Texas!

March was packed with learning, leadership, and fun—both at Camporee and in the mountains. Troop 410 is getting stronger and more prepared each month!
