Summer Camp
Camp Alexander – 2022
Troop 410 took a break from the Texas heat this summer and traveled north for an exciting week of camp in the high mountains of Colorado at Camp Alexander. We spent a week in the beautiful Eleven-mile Canyon in the Pike National Forest enjoying the cool temps, fresh air, and of course, a great assortment of scout activities.
Troop 410 Scouts learned, worked hard, and demonstrated their skills to earn merit badges in various activities, including swimming, orienteering, riflery, kayaking, art, leatherwork, and archery. In addition to the merit badge work, the Scouts and the adult leaders did some great hiking – including to the top of Blue Mountain.
Unfortunately, the lake was closed halfway through our visit due to reports of hypothermia, but as luck would have it, our kayakers got to finish their work in the pool, which had a warm temperature of 68 degrees.
Scouts enjoyed downtime hanging out with their Patrols reading, playing cards, and engaging in several entertaining games of Mafia. Our older Patrol hiked up the mountain behind the campsite for excellent star gazing. There was even an impromptu skit night in the camp when Scouts performed their own commercials.
Adult Leaders helped Scouts with advancements and enjoyed the mountain temps relaxing with a good book or afternoon nap.
