Covert Ops
Covert Ops Campout
In October 2023, our troop went on our annual covert ops campout and we did so many cool activities.
We learned and practiced knife and axe throwing. We also tied lashings to construct a large wooden cage to trap a chupacabra, a mythical monster rumored to inhabit the area. We learned ways to clean dirty water including using filters and boiling water to drink. Our troop learned how to make rope out of Rafa. We also practiced how to use first aid to treat broken bones, head injuries, and large cuts. All of these skills could be essential while camping.
We also got to enjoy a solar eclipse with nearly 90% totality!
During our weekly troop meetings, we focused on developing our skills further. We practiced knife safety, ensuring that we were always aware of potential hazards and that we knew how to handle our tools correctly. We completed swimming and rescue skill check-offs. We learned about mountain biking for our November campout.
