Archery & Canoeing 2022

august 2022

camp Tom wooten

Our August campout was at Lost Pines Scout Reservation. It was very fun. We canoed on the lake, and  learned about the parts of a canoe and a paddle for rank requirements. We swam at the pool and played water football, and learned about water rescue.

At the archery range we learned about being safe with bows and arrows. One scout qualified for archery merit badge.

We performed a service project for the camp by clearing brush. We learned how to use the tools safely. There was a mountain of brush afterwards.

There was a campfire on the last night. We told jokes and stories, did skits, and sang songs. There was a burn ban, but the fire was totally real.

We got to cook for ourselves using camp stoves.

The weather was hot, humid, and sunny during the day. Saturday night there was thunder and lightning in the distance, so we had a plan to evacuate if it got too close. But it missed us and didn’t even rain.
